How do I prepare for my initial session?

  • Initial sessions are 60-75 mins

  • Fill out the paperwork in the portal:

    • Client agreement

    • HIPAA form

    • Nutrition intake form

    • Release of information to applicable providers

    • Insurance verification form (especially if you are unsure about your coverage for nutrition counseling)

How do we communicate in between sessions? 

  • Communication in between sessions can be done via e-mail or through the Practice Better portal

  • Quick questions will receive a response within 48 hours, while more in-depth inquiries will be addressed during the next scheduled session.

​

How do I prepare for a follow-up session? 

  • Optional: Fill out the pre-session form (many clients like this as a moment to reflect on their week with food before the meeting)

  • While it's not required, arriving at sessions with some topics in mind for discussion can be beneficial. This can help us maximize our time together and ensure we cover everything you want to address. Sometimes, showing up is all that is needed!

What will we talk about at each session? 

  • Your food and body history

  • Defining and prioritizing health goals

  • Exploring thoughts and emotions related to food and body

  • Personalized meal, grocery, and planning strategies 

  • Integration of the following: Intuitive Eating, HAES, weight-neutral + evidence-based nutrition recommendations, the science of behavior change, integrating nervous system/somatic practices 

  • Experiential moments: prepping meals, eating together, cleaning out the pantry, etc.

  • Collaborating with other providers - therapists, doctors, psychiatrists, pelvic floor PT's, OTs, SLPs
